About Me
Camille Maussion's art has taken her to many places since she was a child...
First, to the regionally-renowned conservatories of Perpignan, Boulogne-Billancourt and Paris where, after a childhood spent surrounded by the rock 'n' roll her family loved, she studied in depth, among others, classical and contemporary music, jazz, and improvisation. Her passion for rhythm and sounds then took her on artistic adventures, with her saxophones in hand, across France and abroad, where she encountered artists from many different nationalities and backgrounds.
Her interest in crossovers in the performing arts led her to work with the dancers of the Rhizôme collective in 2014, as well as with storyteller Muriel Bloch and director Olivier Balazuc in the musical novel Le Souffle des Marquises from 2010 to 2014. She has enjoyed working on creative musical projects, notably the JM Jazz World Orchestra in 2014 and her trio group FloOd bacK, from 2015 to 2018.
Since 2013, she has been touring the jazz stages in France and abroad with the Nefertiti Quartet, winner of the Euroradio Jazz Competition 2019 and Jazz Migration #5. The Quartet has released two albums “Danses futuristes” in 2015 and “Morse code” in 2018. They will record their third album in November 2021, through German label Neuklang.
In 2020, her duo Mamie Jotax released their first album through Inouïe distribution on the label Warning.
Eager to share her love of art, with a state teaching diploma and Soundpainting Level 2 certificate under her belt, she has been conducting creative workshops for a range of audiences over the past ten years. Currently on leave from her public sector duties, she has taught at the Conservatoires of St-Thibault-des-Vignes and Nanterre. Since 2019, Camille has been leading several of the workshops given by the association Les Concerts de Poche.
Today, Camille channels her creative energies through numerous groups - the duo Mamie Jotax, the Nefertiti Quartet, the rockers of Ich Bin Wallou, the world music trio Abeona – in addition to her role as artistic director of the performing arts company Saä.
